Catherine Calmes Passion Interview

Through my blogging and business journey I have had the pleasure of finding some amazing communities of women. My next few interviews are women I have met through these communities. Catherine is a business woman who has a passion for organization. She brings calm to your storm!

Catherine is a Director of Operations who helps online business owners by providing operational planning and team leadership so their business can run efficiently.
She uses her background in home organizing, workplace productivity, and managerial experience to help make the vision for your business a reality.
Catherine enjoys helping her clients break their goals and ideas down into actionable tasks, assign that work to their team, and communicate clearly to move forward.

Catherine Calmes

1. What is your passion? 

My passion is organization. I enjoy making sure things are organized and operating in an efficient manner. I also enjoy being able to serve others.

2. How did you realize that? 

When I was young I was the nerdy kid who would go over to friends houses and help make sure toys were put away or if they weren’t allowed to leave the house until their bedroom was picked up I’d offer to help. I was also always looking for ways to serve through community service. 

It wasn’t until college that I really learned how these skills that were just things that I naturally enjoyed could apply to what I do in life.

3. What have you done/are you doing to live out your passion? 

In 2010, I was working part-time as a wedding planner’s assistant. She noticed my organizational skills and asked if I had considered opening my own wedding planning business. Well no, but I was interested in a home organizing business. She mentored me and that year I opened my first business. I loved the work I got to do helping my clients organize their homes, but I wished that I could help exponentially more people. So, I brought my business online and did virtual organizing. By bringing my home organizing business online, I realized how many business owners needed help getting the behind the scenes of their business organized. I opened my current business and did so well that I closed my home organizing business. Now, everyday I get to make my own hours, network with people across the globe, serve others, and live out what I love!

4. What attracts you to this passion? 

There is so much good that comes out of it not just for me, but for everyone that I serve. I enjoy seeing how happy my clients are when they can see how much easier things can be than how they were.

5. If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be? 

Don’t rush things or be impatient, everything is happening at the speed that it is meant to happen.

6. What would you say to someone who doesn’t know what their passion is yet about how to find it? 

What are the little things that you enjoy day to day? What skills or knowledge do you have that when you share no one seems to know but you thought it was common knowledge? It could be a small skill but it’s something that you just happen to be smarter/faster at than others.

In getting to speak with Catherine I found myself inspired by her love for organization and love of the process. I personally love the process of things, I like the chaos.
